About Guru Harkrishan Public School

Guru Harkrishan Public School, Karol Bagh was established in 1977 as an extended branch of GHPS India Gate under the aegis of DSGMC. Initially the school started as primary school with 250 students. The school was granted recognition by the Directorate of Education in 1991 and subsequently CBSE Affiliation came about in 1993.

Guru Harkrishan Public School aims to impart quality education to students with a wider vision of developing their intellectual and spiritual potential to enable them to grow into individuals possessing integrity, self esteem, knowledge skills and values with awareness of social justice and world peace.

    GURU HARKRISHAN PUBLIC SCHOOL, KAROL BAGH : NEW DELHI Circular No.GHPS/KB/162 15-05-2018 Dear Parent, You are hereby informed that Parent Teacher Meeting for this month is scheduled to be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 8.30 a.m. to 12.00 noon. It is mandatory for the parents to attend the Parent Teacher Meeting so that the teachers can apprise them about the academic performance of their ward. Kindly adhere to the timings. Students should accompany their parents to the school in proper school uniform only. School is organizing a Health & Wellness Exhibition showcasing work of our students on the day of PTM. To make people aware of Road Safety Rules, Delhi Traffic Police is also going to sensitize students and parents. WORK EXPERIENCE EXHIBITION

Work ex- exhibition held in GHPS Karol Bagh on Saturday, May 19, 2018 It is well said that a healthy mind resides in a healthy body. To create awareness amongst students regarding good health, an exhibition on “Health and Wellness” was organized by the Principal and the Management Body of GHPS Karol Bagh here on Saturday on school ground from 8.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Students from classes III to XII participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. Several kinds of healthy and nutrient rich dishes and food items like fruit chaat, fruit salad, sprout salad, sandwich and healthy beverages were displayed by the students. A good health also includes healthy surrounding. To acquaint the parents and students with a fact; how to keep houses mosquitoes free, the demonstration of mosquito repellent prepared by natural oils like coconut oil and neem oil was given by students of Eco-club which was highly appreciated by the parents. The club also exhibited air purifier plants like money plant, aloe vera , baby rubber plant which also remove stress and anxiety. The corner displaying organic packs for the skin was the centre of attraction and was liked by the masses. Not only this; information regarding Road Safety was also shared with students and their parents by the representative of traffic police. Presentation of Yoga skill and dumbel drill by pupils was also the attractive part of the showcase. The exhibition provided a platform to pupils to express their hidden talents and is a great way to share information with families and staff about healthy eating and physical activity. The exhibition was organized with the help of teachers of Primary, Middle and Senior segments which was highly appreciated by the Principal and the parents.

An Inter house English rhyme recitation competition was organized by GHPS Karol Bagh on 16th May 2018 for the students of Primary Segment. The competition provided the students a platform to showcase their talent and confidence. The recital excelled in rhythm, mood, diction and expression. The theme of the English rhyme recitation was “Mother” which was presented by the students with great zeal and enthusiasm. The students were judged on the parameters like content, expression and overall presentation. Inter House Punjabi and Hindi Poem Recitation Competition Held at Guru Harkrishan Public School Karol Bagh "Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and thought has found words" An Inter house Punjabi and Hindi Poem Recitation Competition was organized by G.H.P.S Karol Bagh on 14th May,2018 for the students of middle as well as senior segment. The competition provided the students a platform to showcase their talent and confidence. Keeping the various aspects of poetry, the participants from each house came up with the poems of famous Hindi and Punjabi poets. The recital excelled in rhythm, mood, diction and expression. The theme of the Punjabi recitation was "Vir Ras" and that of Hindi was "Hasaya Ras" which was presented by the students with great zeal and enthusiasm. Students were judged on the parameters like content, fluency and overall presentation. The Principal of the school Mrs. Jasvinder Kaur appreciated the performance of the students and gave away the certificates to the winners. Visit to National Science Centre

GHPS KAROL BAGH Visits National Science Centre on Friday,11 May 2018. An educational trip was organised by the principal of GHPS KAROL BAGH to National Science Centre for the students of class X under the supervision of science teachers Ms. Mandeep kaur,Ms.Savita Minocha &Mr.Ankit . The centre allows kids to participate in certain games based on scientific facts. Students also enjoyed 3D scientific film,observed various technologies such as communication,Space ,Medical and Bio technology,Earth Science ,Agricultural technology,Gallery on water conservation as well as different civilization and heritage gallery. But Pre-Historic gallery was the central attraction for the students as they viewed giant dinosaurs,giant scorpions,early birds etc. The children also amused themselves At fun with Science as it was full of hand on activities. All in all the visit was a thrilling and motivating experience for the students.

MOTHER'S DAY CELEBRATION

"God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mother. Mother day is celebration of honouring the mother as well as maternal bond and influence of mother in society. Therefore ,to acquaint the children of primary segment with this day GHPS KAROL BAGH organised card making competition in the school. All the students of primary wing participated with great zeal and enthusiasm in it and exhibited their love,respect appreciation and affection for their living and caring mothers. Road Safety Awareness Seminar

Traffic awareness seminar was held in Guru Harkrishan Public school Karol Bagh ,on 9th May2018 by representatives from Traffic Police, Delhi. Mrs. Pushpal Kaur Head Constable from Education Cell Traffic Police, Delhi delivered an informative lecture to the students from 6th to 8th classes. They informed the students that the violation of traffic rules on roads by underage have become very unsafe especially ,for school children. They presented shocking statistics connected with road rage. According to Road Accident Statistics India 1214 road crashes occur every day in India. 20 children under the age of 14 die every day due to road crashes in the country. One serious road accident in the country occurs every minute and 16 people die on Indian roads every hour. Child who learns about traffic rules and road discipline would grow up to be a law abiding citizen. The habit of obeying traffic rules teaches a person a sense of responsibility, empathy for others and respecting the other person's rights," "Children should be sensitised about their personal safety too and issues pertaining to cyber security and teachers should motivate students to always share their problems with their elders," She added.Educate students about road safety, traffic rules and other mandatory steps to be followed on roads to avoid accidents.

LABOUR DAY

LABOUR DAY CELEBRATED IN GHPS KAROL BAGH ON 4TH MAY2018. To acquaint the tiny tots with international labour day an activity related to it was conducted in GHPS KAROL BAGH on 4th may 2018 in the school. The students of primary wing,Nursery and pre nursery enthusiastically participated in it. During the activity 'LABOUR DAY '.The pupils also cleaned their classrooms arranged the tables cleaned the black board etc. At last the children presented a Labour day card and thanked the Helping staff for keeping the school slick and span.

Work Experience Activity for Health and Wellness

To promote health and wellness among the students, GHPS Karol Bagh conducted meal planning activity for the students of middle segment on 24.04.18 in the zero period. WORKSHOP ON STREAM SELECTION HELD AT GHPS KAROL BAGH In order to help the students select the appropriate stream for their bright future, the workshop on stream selection was organized by Mr. Bikramjeet Singh Kalsi (Brain Pundit) at GHPS Karol Bagh on 24th April 2018. Medical Health Check –up Camp

To create health awareness among the students the ‘Awareness Programme and Medical Health Check-up Camp’ was organized by Dr. Surya Parkash Bhatt in association with department of Pediatric & Pulmonary Medicine and Sleep disorder AIIMS at Guru Harkrishan Public School Karol Bagh on 18.04.2018 and 19.04.2018. The students were sensitized about healthy life styles and good habits by the team of four members. Dr. Surya Parkash Bhatt, Mr. Shiv Kumar, Mrs. Sangeeta and Mr. Pankaj Kumar Mishra. The team conducted overall medical check-up including the height, weight and B.M.I etc. The students were immensely benefitted by the health awareness camp.

Gurmat Camp

GURMAT CAMP ORGANIZED AT GURDWARA DAMDAMA SAHIB To foster the spirit of righteousness among the students, the Gurmat Camp was organised by S. Kuldeep Singh ji Bhogal, the Chairman of the School at Gurdwara Damdama Sahib on 10th April 2018. The Gurmat camp was organized for the students of Primary Segment of Guru Harkrishan Public School, Karol Bagh. The camp was graced with the presence of S. Kuldeep Singh Ji Bhogal, the Chairman of the School, S. Harvinderjeet Singh ji Raja, the Manager of the School and S. Harinder Pal Singh Ji, the Executive Member of D.S.G.M.C as well as the Chairman of Gurmat College. Addressing the students, the Chairman of the school laid emphasis on sensitizing the students about the great heritage of Sikh History. He further emphasized that the martyrdom of four Shahibzade, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and the valour shown by great Sikh warriors must be shared with the students. The second speaker, S. Harinder Pal Singh urged the need to inculcate moral values among the students alongwith the academics so that the students could become good human beings. The Gurmat camp gave the students a platform to showcase their martial art skills i.e Gatka. The Char Sahibzade movie was also shown to the students later. The students participated in race also. Lastly, the students participated in the Gurmat Quiz competition hosted by the Head Mistress, Ms. Gobinder Kaur.

Orientation Day

The Orientation Day was held in the school on the 4th of April 2018 for the parents of Pre Nursery and Nursery children. The objective of the Orientation was to welcome the new parents, reduce their anxiety and help them to understand the rules and regulations of the school. The program began with the School Shabad to seek the blessings of the Almighty. This was followed by an inspiring speech by our worthy Principal Mrs. Jasvinder Kaur. She also highlighted the laurels brought to the school by the children in both scholastic and co scholastic field. The parents were then formally welcomed with a welcome song and dance presented by the children of Nursery class.The rules and regulations of the school was explained to the parents by the Head mistress Mrs. Gobinder Kaur. The parents thoroughly enjoyed the Bhangra performed by the children of the primary section. The vote of thanks was given by the Vice Principal Mrs. Jatinder Kaur.

Graduation Day Celebrated with great fervor and gaiety March 16, 2018, Friday To mark the significance of all round personality development of a child, GHPS Karol Bagh acknowledged its Pre-Wing students in the form of Graduation Day with a gracious passing out ceremony of all tiny-tots, who have spent their initial year of life in the school. S. Paramjeet Singh Ji Rana- Councillor, Chairman Dharam Prachaar Committee DGMC presided over as the Chief Guest. Sd. Surinder Kaur Bali was the Guest of Honour. The Chief Guest was welcomed by Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Ji Bhogal – the Chairman by presenting the Shawl. Ms. Jasvinder Kaur, the Principal greeted Jathedar Kuldeep Singh ji Bhogal with the Shawl as a token of respect. Principal, Vice Principal and Head Mistress madam honoured the School Manager S. Harvinderjeet Singh Ji Raja and Sd. Surinder jit Kaur Balli by presenting a Shawl. The event marked its beginning with the chanting of the shabad by the little ones followed by the welcome speech by the School Principal. During her speech she acquainted the guest with the scholastic and non- scholastic achievements of the previous year. The colourful programme was presented by the tiny tots based on the theme of ‘Love, Peace and Environment’. They exhibited their talents through songs, Punjabi play, English skit and Dance etc. S. Paramjit Singh Ji Rana- the chief guest felicitated the students and their parents and appreciated the efforts of the entire school in making the event successful. He also motivated the students for their bright future. Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Ji Bhogal – the chairman also appreciated the students and teachers. At last, ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ was given away by the dignitaries. Little toddlers were very excited on passing from Class Nursery to Grade 1. The vote of thanks was presented by the Head Mistress; Ms. Gobinder Kaur.

Science Exhibition held on October 28, 2017 A science exhibition was organised under the guidance of the Principal by the HOD of science department Mrs. Mandeep kaur along with all teachers of science segment in Guru Harkrishan Public School Karol Bagh. Maximum students from the primary wing to the senior wing displayed their innovative models and activities. To bring out the hidden talents of the students and to create more awareness of science, technology and engineering were the key objectives of the exhibition. Nagar Kirtan taken out November 3, 2017 Guru Harkrishan Public School Karol Bagh took part in the Nagar Kirtan held today on the eve of birth anniversary of Sikhism's founder, Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Students of classes Vl , X and Xl , school prefects, Principal , Vice Principal , Office Superintendent, teachers and other staff were witnessed chanting Gurbani. The procession led by a flower decked palki sahib and the five beloveds(Panj Piyaras) The procession started from Sis Ganj Gurudwara Sahib and reached Pulbangash via Fatehpuri, Sadar Bazar, Khari Baoli,Azad Market. The people be lined on both sides of the road to pay their respect and homage to the Guru Granth Sahib, installed in the palki sahib.

Deepmala celebrations on the occasion of Prakash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Tin Bedian Ki Kul Bikhe Pragte Nanak Rai Sab Sikhan Ko Sukh Daye, Jaha Taha Bhaya Sahay November 4, 2017, Saturday : The Management, Principal, Staff & Students of Guru Harkrishan Public School, Karol Bagh along with dignitaries and parents gathered in the school premises to celebrate Deepmala on the occasion of Prakash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. S. Paramjit Singh Ji Rana– Chairman-Dharam Prachar Committee - DSGMC cum Councellor-MCD; S. Harvinderjit Singh Ji Raja – School Manager, S. Tajinder Singh Ji and S. Ravinder Singh Ji Chandhok – School Sr. Vice Chairman, were present to pay obeisance. The students of the school gave presentations through the medium of Shabad recitals and dhadhi prasang to enlighten the congregation present about the teachings of the Guru Sahiban. S. Paramjit Singh Ji Rana motivated everyone to keep up the spirit of rational thinking and brotherhood. He urged everyone to stay away from superstitions prevailing in the society. S. Tajinder Singh Ji inspired everyone to follow the path of righteousness taught by Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Children’s day

On the 14th of November 2017 Children’s day was celebrated in the school on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru. The tiny tots of Pre Nursery and Nursery classes had a rolicking time dancing on the stage. Sweets were distributed to the children. The little ones of Pre Nursery enjoyed making and eating Biscuit Toppings. Children of Class I and II were given a talk by their class teachers on why and how Children’s Day is celebrated. On the whole it was a fun filled day for the children which they will remember.

0ur students got Laurels at shabad kirtan competition held at Mata Gujri public school , GK part 1 .Our senior team scored 2nd position among 15 teams and bagged 2100/- cash prize, trophies and certificates . Our senior team achievers are Ravneet singh XII A, Manpreet kaur XI C, Gaganpreet Kaur XI C, Gargi XI A , Sanskriti IX A , Somya Sharma IX A, Manpreet kaur IX A , Rupinder Kaur IX B. At Mata Sundri college our Senior team scored 3rd position among 17 teams and bagged cash prize of Rs.3100/-. Our nursery team scored second position among 5 teams and bagged cash prize of Rs. 4100/- . Hritvi , Prisha Jain ,Asmita , Avreen Kaur , JasKunwar Singh ,Hunraj Singh , Ranveer Singh and Prajakta participated in the competition. Our 2 students Avreen Kaur and Prisha Jain scored 2nd position and bagged cash prize of Rs. 300 along with certificates.

Mrs J.K.Mehon, Principal, GHPS-Karol Bagh who is a subject expert in the field of Biology has been a resource person. Under her guidance and leadership the interactive session on various topics of Genetics, Biotechnology, Environmental issues, Reproductive Biology and diseases was conducted which offered a real insight into the subject matter. The resource person provided valuable inputs not only in the field of Biology but also in teaching methodologies to make teaching learning process a success. She has explained the importance of two way communication in classroom, generating interest and curiosity, eye to eye contact etc. to make learning process effective. She also suggested various strategies like customised syllabus for weak students, use of interesting teaching aids (like videos), individual attention to all students and differentiation to achieve academic excellence. The workshop provided excellent platform to the teachers to share their experiences and also offered them an opportunity to learn from each other too. All participants showed their keen desire to implement the learning of the workshop in their class teaching.

Inter GHPS Solo Singing Competition at GURU HARKRISHAN PUBLIC SCHOOL, KAROL BAGH November 22, 2017; Wednesday: Continuing the promotion of inculcating the co-scholastic skills in the students, the Management of Guru Harkrishan Public Schools (New Delhi), Society made another attempt to provide an exuberant platform for the budding musicians of the schools wherein they got an opportunity to exhibit their vocal talent by participating in the “Inter GHPS Solo Singing Competition” held at Guru Harkrishan Public School, Karol Bagh on November 22, 2017. The programme began with the singing of school shabad by the music choir, followed by Welcome speech by Mrs.Jasvinder Kaur Mehon – School Principal, S. Paramjit Singh ji Rana – Chairman Dharam Prachar Committee – Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee cum Councellor MCD and S. Harvinderjit Singh Ji Raja - Manager Guru Harkrishan Public School, Karol Bagh were present to witness the event and inspire the participants. In his motivational speech S Paramjit Singh ji Rana congratulated the Management and Principal of the school who were instrumental in meticulously planning and executing the event. He urged to spread the concept of communion with God – by making every child learn to render Ardaas and recite shabads. The students of the eleven branches of Guru Harkrishan Public Schools gave awe inspiring presentations in the form of Geet, Gazalas and Shabads which had left the audiance spell bound. GHPS KAROL BAGH attends Career Guidance Fair 2017 November 29, Wednesday The senior classes ( from 10 to 12) of GHPS KAROL BAGH attended the Career Guidance Fair held at Bhai Lakhi Shah Vanjara Hall Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib. The fair was organised by Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee. Various prestigious Education Institutes like IGNOU, PTU, Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University set up their stalls. The objective of the fair was to provide high quality guidance and counselling programme to the students. Each stall was visited by the students and they got knowledge about various career options.

Mock Drill on Disaster Management

GHPS KAROL BAGH Conducts Mock Drill on 'Disaster Management' December 14, 2017 Thursday In continuation with the exercise to create awareness among students about disaster management, a mock drill on'Earth Quake and Fire Hazard' was conducted today in GHPS Karol Bagh. To enhance the preparedness of the students to handle the fallout of natural disaster and fire incident, exercise of Drop, Cover,Hold was done by them in their respective classes after the first bell at 12.10 p.m. After the drill, evacuation operation was conducted on the second bell i.e. at 12.13 p.m. During this operation students were escorted by their subject teachers to the assembly ground where heads were counted by their respective class teachers. The students were acquainted with safety measures through demonstration during Earth Quake and Fire Hazard. The evacuation drill was executed in 3 minutes 53 seconds.
